front or back

Wear it on the front or the back.

Carry your baby on your front while they're small, then move them round to your back as they grow. One carrier for both, in a fit that works for your body.

dopamine dressing for the early years

Small joys count.

Having a baby is wonderful, and it's also hard. Sleep is patchy, your body is healing, and some days just getting out of the door is an achievement.

But wearing a colour and print you love can make an ordinary day feel brighter. That's why we're going bold and bright with our carriers.

why I'm making this

When my little one was in special care, the thing I wanted most was to hold them close. Later, working as a midwife, I kept seeing parents who wanted exactly that and couldn't find a carrier that fit their body. Straps that wouldn't close. Waistbands sitting right on a fresh caesarean scar. People apologising for their size when it was the carrier that had failed them. And far too often, parents wearing carriers that were genuinely unsafe.

So I made one, with safety at the heart of it.

questions

Things you're probably wondering

When can I buy one?

Once I've found the right manufacturer and the carrier has passed independent safety testing. Waitlist members hear first.

Is it safe?

It will be independently tested against the British safety standard for baby carriers, and it won't go on sale until it passes. This is the one bit I'm not joking about.

What sizes does it fit?

The Goldie comes in two sizes. Classic fits waists up to 45 inches (roughly XS to 3XL) and Extended fits up to 65 inches (roughly 4XL to 6XL). Clothes sizes vary a lot between shops, so waist size is the one to go by. Not sure which? Pick "Not sure yet" and I'll help you work it out.

Is the Goldie a plus-size baby carrier?

Yes. The Goldie is size-inclusive from the start rather than having a plus-size add-on. The Extended size fits waists up to 65 inches (roughly 4XL to 6XL), and the Classic size fits XS to 3XL, so both sizes are made to fit properly.

Can I use it after a caesarean?

It's designed with recovery in mind, so the waistband doesn't sit on a caesarean scar. Every recovery is different though, so check with your midwife or GP before you start babywearing after surgery.

Who designed it?

Mariah Howgill, a UK midwife and the founder of GLDNHART. She designed the Goldie after years of seeing parents struggle with carriers that didn't fit their bodies, or weren't safe.

Can I carry on my front and back?

Yes. Front carry for little ones, and back carry once they're big enough. Full guidance on ages and positions comes with the carrier.

Can I put it on by myself?

Yes. The side buckle is designed to click shut with one hand, so you can keep the other on your baby.
